The updated File Explorer app in Windows 10 has a new default location called Quick Access. In the current build, it includes Frequent folders. Users who care about their privacy might not be happy with this feature of the File Explorer app. There are two solutions for these users: the first one is to open This PC instead of Home in Windows 10 as we covered previously. The second is to remove frequent folders from the Quick Access location in Explorer. Here's how you can do that.
Windows 10 is packed with handy features. Few of them, however, may be considered unnecessary or annoying by some users. For instance, you may want to disable the Quick Access feature in order to give File Explorer a much cleaner look. Windows 10 File Explorer has new 'Quick access' option in left navigation pane. Clicking on this shows your frequently used folders and recently accessed files in content pane on right side. You can also click on ' icon in front of Quick access in navigation pane to see frequently used folders and recent files in navigation pane itself. To place the Quick Access Toolbar back at the top of the Ribbon, follow the preceding steps and, at Step 3, click Show Above the Ribbon. Add buttons to the Quick Access Toolbar. You can make the Quick Access Toolbar more useful by adding more buttons to it; for example, the Undo, Redo, Delete, and Rename buttons. - Open File Explorer.
- Click File -> Change folder and search options:
- Under Privacy, untick Show recently used files in Quick Access:
Click Apply and OK buttons. - Unpin all pinned folders from Frequent folders in Quick Access. Right click a folder and select Unpin from Quick Access:
Get Out Of Quick Access
That's it. Recent files will disappear from Quick Access.
